Crossfire SC Competitive Soccer Ideals

Committed to teaching the youth, not only the complete game of soccer, but the value of personal commitment, fair play, teamwork and sportsmanship. Crossfire competitive soccer will promote a positive and safe training environment for the players to learn and improve their skills and knowledge of the game. WUSA's Crossfire Soccer encourages each team member to play in an enthusiastic manner, with the understanding that good sportsmanship creates a positive and competitive environment. This will be stressed during all training sessions and games, encouraging all coaches, parents and volunteers to support this approach.

It is easy for a program to say they are ‘developmental’ and that they do not care about only winning or losing. Overall soccer skills are very important aspects in the foundation of the developing a complete soccer player and should always be the focus of any soccer program. It is easy for a coach, team or club to simply play to win games. There are many techniques to accomplish just that and only that.  Everyone will go home happy because they won their match; regardless of how poor a soccer playing team they really may be. It is Crossfire SC's goal to teach the necessary skills of soccer and to put an emphasis on the technical aspect of proper play and not a "win at all costs" approach. Sometimes we learn more from our losses and failures, than we do from our victories.

Having a winning attitude and playing to win should always be important to the players. What makes an elite athlete, however, is the burning desire to be victorious at the end of the match. Crossfire SC believes that the team’s performance is of the utmost importance. Quality performance can only be attained through technically efficient players developing an excellent technical base, good training habits and creating a quality playing style. The result may not matter – but the performance in the game always does. Achieving a quality performance will always be the expectation of every Crossfire SC team at all ages within the program.
